UGANDA: Catholics in Uganda are Mourning the Death Fr Francis Lubanga

The Catholic Church in Uganda is in a somber mood following the death of Fr. Francis Lubanga, the Vice Rector for St. Paul National Major Seminary-Kinyamasika in Fort-portal tourism city.
According to the death announcement dated 30th December 2022, the Seminary Rector Rev. Fr. Dr. Vincent Muhindo confirmed the sad news, saying his Deputy was a hardworking and committed man of God who dedicated his service towards the development of St. Paul National Major seminary.
He later said he was in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Kampala from where the deceased hails about funeral arrangements.
On their Twitter handle, the Kampala Archdiocese announced the death of Fr. Lubanga who reportedly succumbed to injuries he sustained on road accident on the Kampala-Masaka road that occurred on the night of 29th December 2022.
According to letter from the office of the Chancellor Archdiocese of Kampala dated 30th December 2022, Rev. Fr. Pius Male Ssentumbwe highlighted the burial arrangement as follows: Sunday 01st Jan 2023, Priests, Religious and Christians they shall be with prayer vigil that shall begin at 4pm at Nsambya Catholic church and body shall be laid to rest on Monday 2nd of Jan 2023 at 3pm in Nsambya cemetery after the Requiem Mass that shall also start at 01pm.
Rev. Fr. Francis Lubanga who hails from Kampala archdiocese, was teaching at St. Paul National seminary Kinyamaseka in Fort portal diocese and at the same time he was the Vice Rector. Together with the Students’ Coordinating Council, he was in charge of fostering leadership, accountability and advocating for the needs of the students.
