UGANDA: Episcopal Conference Postpones the National Youth Conference

Members of Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) during their meeting Thursday, November 17, postponed the celebration of the National Youth Conference 2022 to next year due to Ebola Virus in the country.
The last celebration was in 2019 after which Covid-19 prevented the previous celebrations and the youths expected to mark it this year unfortunately Ebola Virus has prevented.
The Kasese Diocesan youth Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Joseph Tumusiime confirmed a zoom meeting for the diocesan youth chaplain, youth leaders and coordinators held on 24th November 2022 was resolved that whereas the individual dioceses was steadily going on with their preparations, the Uganda Episcopal Conference saw it unfair to leave out Mubende and Kasanda districts in Kiyinda-Mityana diocese that are still locked down over Ebola.
Fr. Tumusiime who asked the youth to pray for the Ebola affected districts, said the conference through the Provincial Youth chaplaincy had however advised that individual dioceses to hold mini-celebrations, with Kasese set for January 2023.
He also said the conference has asked the provincial chaplaincy to come up with annual activities for the youth on addition to the following National Youth workshop in March 2023, National Youth run in May 2023, youth talent shows to be organized by dioceses, Elderly and grandparents day in July 2023, world Migrants and refugees’ day in September 2023.
He also encouraged the youth to prepare for the international youth day conference which shall be celebrated on the solemnity of Christ the King Sunday held in Lisbon, Portugal.
