UGANDA: Influence People by Good works, says Uganda’s Head of State to Catholics

His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda has implored Christians to hold on living virtuous life in a bid to influence society with their good deeds.
The President was speaking during the beatification of t Venerable Servant Fr. Dr. Giuseppe Ambrozoli on the 20th November 2022 at Kalongo Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Mission in Uganda’s Gulu Archdiocese.
The Head of State said, he is grateful to the Church for recognizing the meritorious works of the Blessed Giuseppe Ambrozoli that transformed the lives of the people in Uganda and society in the sectors of Education and Health.
The President urged the congregation gathered to emulate exemplary life of Blessed Giuseppe Ambrozoli that created positive impacts in the country to enable them transform their communities.
Following the example of Blessed Giuseppe Ambrozoli who dedicated his life as a priest and medical doctor to serve the poor people in Kalongo and Uganda at large, the president urged the Christians to embrace work as the means to kick out poverty from their homes.
He mentioned that, the citizens can overcome poverty through farming where the people can generate resources they can use to transform their livelihoods.
According to the president, the Government of Uganda has started a campaign which is aimed at helping farmers to grow food crops for sustenance and cash crops for commercial benefits.
He advised people to utilize available pieces of lands in their localities to grow cash crops like coffee and fruits to earn income in their households. A part from coffee, and fruits, the president further asked the Christians to grow pasture for dairy cows and also poultry farming, piggery, and fish farming committing that government is ready to offer technical support to people.
Furthermore, the president also directed Christians to grow Cassava as a way to create wealth giving as an example that government of Uganda is working in partnership with Gulu Arch diocese in Cassava commercialization and industrialization project with the aim to empower local population economically.
In his address, the president went on to note that he is optimistic that with involvement of all households in farming and other productive activities, will empower the Christians economically to support the church and become self- reliant, create access to markets, and will help government to realize more in revenue.
