Fr Isaac Ojok
On Thursday 20th October 2022, all roads led to St Francis Xavier Catholic Parish-Dokolo for the ordination of Rev Deacon Moses Edyomo to priesthood.
The ordination was presided over by the Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok the Bishop of Lira Diocese with thousands of Christian congregation from other parishes in attendance.
Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok in his homily during the Eucharistic celebration mentioned that the ordination in the church reminds us of the sacrifice, total self-giving a candidate to priesthood makes to render service to the people of God. Bishop Wonok then asked the congregation to thank God for gift of priesthood in the church.
He noted that the ordination of a priest further reminds us of the sacrifice, agony and suffering our Lord Jesus Christ endured on the Cross adding that it is because of the love of God upon humanity.
The prelate urged the Christians to make sacrifice of their lives, other worldly desires for the sake of the Kingdom of God following the example of Jesus Christ.
He went on to say it is timely for Christians to understand and nurture love of Christ in their lives to ensure renewal of life saying it is the reason why a priest is ordained to propagate the message of love of Christ among the people of God.
He stressed the need for the Christians to remain focused on Jesus Christ who sacrificed His Life on the Cross for the salvation of humankind in a move to live meaningfully and become fruitful in the Church.
Bishop Sanctus Lino Wanok emphasized the need for the congregation to extend support to the new priest and other priests for the success of the Pastoral ministry in Lira diocese.
In response to the Bishop, the Christians pledged to offer spontaneous support to the new priests and other projects which can support the growth and development of the Christians.
The ordination of Rev. Deacon Moses Edyomo to priesthood on Thursday brings to a total of five priests and four deacons ordained in Lira diocese the year 2022.
