UGANDA: Bishop Kibira Blames Poverty Levels in Kasese on Poor Farming Methods.
The Bishop Diocese of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale is to hire agriculture technocrats and celebrated model local farmers from Bushenyi district to guide the local community on how to commercialize agriculture.
Bishop Kibira who blames poverty levels among the local community in Kasese to poor farming methods, calls for double and collaborated efforts to improve household incomes through applying the required agronomic practices to improve coffee and Banana plantation in Kasese district.
In his speech shortly after Holy Mass at Muramba Catholic Church in Ibanda Parish on 17th Oct 2022 where he confirmed 60 Christians into the Catholic faith and wedded four couples, Bishop Kibira said Ibanda Parish would pilot the expertise of the agriculturalists he would wish to hire from Bushenyi to improve banana and coffee production among other crops for the good of the community.
The Ordinary of Kasese who pledged to fund the donation of piglets and training of the youth on how to rare pigs, later announced the Saturday 22nd Oct 2022 Missionary Childhood competition at the Kasese cathedral that will begin with Holy Mass at 9am.
The Diocese Treasurer, Rev. Fr. Joseph Kule Syathetha announced that the bills of quantities of the new cathedral construction had increased from 5 billion to 6.5 billion shillings due to the skyrocketed commodity prices in Uganda, asking Christians to contribute generously for the project.
The Bugoye sub county local council three chairpersons, Mr. James Kathalhikawo Muthulhanda urged the confirmands to live by example, before calling on the new wedded couples to live by their marriage vows.
The Ibanda Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Expedito Masereka praised God`s flock in the parish for their un reserved support for church activities.
Meanwhile in Kyalhumba Parish on 16th Oct 2022, the Bishop Diocese of Kasese His Lordship Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira who confirmed 514 Christians into the catholic faith asked Christians to continue praying to God, adding that through the blood of Jesus Christ Christians shall be saved from all earthly pains and challenges.
Bishop Kibira commended the unity and cooperation between the lay faithful and the clergy which was observed by collecting over 19 million shilling towards the construction of the new cathedral.
Kyalhumba Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Cosmas Asaba who attributed the collection to generosity and love for the work of God among families as well as team work in the parish said more parish projects will be done, including completion of the parish House in Kyalhumba town, renovating Fathers house and the diocesan youth conference among others.
