MALAWI: Catholic University Launches Five-Year Strategic Plan

With an eye on the future, the Catholic University of Malawi, CUNIMA, has launched its five-year strategic plan that will drive the operations of the university from 2022 to 2027.
The five-year plan has drawn from the insights of internal and external stakeholders to help and maintain steady growth as experienced over the years since its establishment.
The University is eying to strengthen management and governance function through policies consistent with the core value of subsidiarity which underscores the rightful distribution of tasks and decision rights at various levels of the organization.
Adding to that, the University has planned to increase revenue, enhance debt collection mechanisms, diversify sources of income, and minimize resource leakage.
The University is optimistic to establish new learning centres (constituent colleges) in Lilongwe and in Mzuzu with a view to make CUNIMA programmes more accessible to people in central and northern regions of the country.
For the coming five years, CUNIMA has planned to create undergraduate and post-graduate programmes that respond to the needs of the Church, the nation and the world at large.
The University plans to maintain its efforts of transforming its main campus Montfort, through building additional physical structures to enhance the welfare of staff and students for the next five-years.
The five-years are also to provide excitement to staff members of the University as the strategic plan provided the great opportunity of in-service training and further studies to yield increased proficiency of academic and support staff.
The University’s core values are to be at the heart to achieve organizational culture that is to be supported with created mechanisms for ensuring that the values percolate all dimensions and programmes of the University.
As internationally recognized business and leadership development advisor Herminia Ibara once said, “Networking is a lot like nutrition and fitness” the University plans to Strengthen value-adding relationships with other higher education institutions in the country and behind, donor communities, communities of practice, and regulatory bodies to ensure growth.
Speaking during the 21st Congregation of the University, the Chancellor of the University Most. Rev. George Desmond Tambala invited everyone to sail together with the University to reach to the shores of success of the strategic plan.
The Catholic University of Malawi is a fast-growing and dynamic institution of higher learning accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) to offer Degrees, Diplomas, and Certificates.
CUNIMA was established by the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) on October 16, 2004 and officially opened its doors in 2006. The University offers Generic/Full-time and Weekend/Part-time Programmes.
