Pride among Consecrated persons and marriage couples has been identified as the greatest sin failing many from their vocations, Bishop Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale, of Uganda’s Kasese Diocese has said.

In his homily while presiding over thanksgiving Mass of Rev. Sr. Semerita Mbambu Kaseese of the Sisters of the Holy Cross Saturday, September 17, the Prelate wondered why people change shortly after taking their vows noting that “every vocation is call from God and requires total sacrifice.”

Bishop Kibira asked couples to appreciate each other’s weakness and viewpoints emphasizing that pride has frustrated many vocations in the Church as God`s servants brag over the people they serve, forgetting that they are the same Christians empowering them materially and spiritually.

During Mass where over seven couples received the Sacrament Holy Matrimony, Bishop Kibira was assisted by Bishop EgidioNkaijanabo and several other priests from the diocese of Kasese and the Holy cross family.

On his part, Fr. Leonary Sumbuku Sibiita the Parish Priest of Kasanga further warned families against perceiving their children in the Religious life for wealth, but instead they need to support them financially, spiritually and physically.

Commenting about a recent music festival which started in 2015 in Uganda to celebrate and represent African music, the Local Ordinary of Kasese Diocese raised concern that the youth were afraid of committing their life in Christ but are not bothered about the consequences of the immoral activities they engage in during the annual event. This year, the event took place in Itinda falls located in Jinja Diocese.

Sr. Theresa Mbugua, CSC, the area Coordinator of Africa commended Sr. Semerita for the patience and love to serve Christ, before describing her as a gift to the congregation.
