UGANDA: Diocese of Kasese to Extend Clean Water to Islamic Secondary School

A safe water crisis may soon be history at Saad Memorial Secondary School in Kisinga Sub county Kasese District after the Ordinary Diocese of Kasese Rt. Rev. Francis Kibira Kambale in partnership with the President Uganda Forum based in USA, Mrs. Jane Hollah pledged to extend the solar pumped water to the school.
Addressing the teachers and students at his monitoring tour to the school yesterday, Bishop Kibira said the schools head teacher requested the Diocese of Kasese to extend clean water to their school to create a conducive environment for the learners irrespective of different religious affiliation, the school being under the Islamic foundation.
Bishop Kibira asked the benefiting community and institution to open a Bank Account with centenary Bank and save some money monthly per household for the repairs and maintenance at the taps.
The project initiator who is also the Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale commended the delegation led by Mrs. Jane Hollah for the water project which he asked the beneficiaries in the area to own and maintenance it if was to last and serve its purpose.

Addressing the local residents and leaders at her monitoring tour of the three water taps that currently serve Kiburara trading center yesterday, Mrs. Hollah hailed the local population for the warm welcome, pleading that the water project would not only serve the whole community soon but also target schools and other affected faith-based institutions in the area.
On his part, Mr. Julius Mukeri the Local Council III Chairperson for Kisinga Sub County appreciates Bishop Kibira and the project funders as he asks the community to put the water to good use, adding that Saad Memorial has suffered the problem of safe water for years.
The Rector St. Johns Minor Seminary Rev Fr. Kojo Francis who asked the community to save for the repairs and maintain cleanliness at the taps, said as a benefiting institution, they had offered land for machinery storage, and appointed Rev Fr. Francis Mwangi to work with local leaders in maintaining the project.
Mr. Gilbert Mumbere, a senior four student who doubles as deputy head boy Saad Memorial secondary school called for expedited implementation of the water project to save students from walking long distances to access water at Kanyampara River.
Bishop Kibira later led his visitors to Saad Memorial secondary school that will also benefit from the project.
Earlier, Bishop Kibira said the project is looking at extending solar pumped water to Kikorongo area in Lake Katwe Sub-County in the future.
