AMECEA PLENARY: Fr Healey Urges Eastern Africa Bishops on Making Internet Affordable

The 2022 AMECEA Lifetime Achiever Award recipient Father Joseph Healey, MM, has called on bishops in the eastern African region to find ways to making the internet affordable.
He says his appeal comes in the wake of Christians continuing meeting online for Christian Community gatherings.
Father Healey added that bishops can spearhead the online fundraising for internet affordability because the development is for the future.
He noted that there is need to read signs of the time in raising funds for internet.
“Though there is resumption of small Christian Community meetings, these meetings have become hybrid. People are still meeting on WhatsApp, Google Meets, Skype, Zoom and other platforms,” he said.
Father Healey was instrumental in the formation of Small Christian Communities (SCCs) as the key pastoral priority in Eastern Africa region.
