AMECEA PLENARY: “Resolute leadership Is Required to Fight Environmental Degradation” Says AMECEA Chairman

Receiving Her Excellency, the President and Commander in Chief of Republican of Tanzania Madam Samia Hassan Suluhu at Nyerere International Convention Centre (NICC) on July 12, 2022. H.E. Bishop Kasonde, Chairman of AMECEA has appreciated her government and it is support to ensure that the 20th AMECEA Plenary Assembly successfully takes place in the country.

He has disclosed to her that the encyclical letter of Pope Francis ‘Laudato Si’ is the reason for the gathering of the bishops at this plenary.

“The environmental crisis needs a global and collective response,” said Bishop Kasonde adding that the crises are affecting specially those who are less privileged, therefore resolute leadership in AMECEA regions is required to fight environmental degradation.

Bishop Kasonde further commented on the founding fathers of the African whose photos decorate the walls of the NICC as a reminder for all leaders, political leaders to come together as one family to care for the environment and to ensure economical sustainability and care for mother earth.
