AMECEA PLENARY: Tanzanian Government assures Solidarity and Support to AMECEA’s efforts on Environmental Care

President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan has assured the Associations Member Episcopal Conference of Easter Africa (AMECEA) Bishops that her government will provide the solidarity on the efforts the Catholic Church in East Africa is making to fight environmental degradation.
President Suluhu Hassan spoke this after hosting the AMECEA delegation led by Bishop Chairman Rt. Rev. Charles Kasonde for dinner at State House on 12th July 2022.
“Dear Bishop Charles Kasonde, I want to assure you that the Tanzanian government recognizes the importance of AMECEA meeting on environment. You religious leaders have real showed your impact to our society. I request you to share your AMECEA resolutions with the government so that my government can see how we can converge for implementation,” President Suluhu Hassan said.
The President further added that, the environmental degradation is a serious issue which has to be worked upon for it affects every human being and it is non-political. She insisted that everyone has to combine efforts on environmental protection to protect our planet earth which is the home for everyone.
“The ruling CCM political party, the Opposition, Civil Servants Organizations (CSO’s) and the religious groups in Tanzania have pledged their support on efforts to address environmental related issues like human degradation that has been brought about by us human beings,” the Tanzanian Head of State said.
Present at dinner were also religious leaders for other faiths, the Moslems, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Opposition parties as a sign of solidarity to the AMECEA delegates.
