AMECEA PLENARY: SIGNIS Rome Stands with AMECEA Bishops to Promote Implementation of Laudato Si

SIGNIS has assured AMECEA to support in the implementation of Laudato si by engaging all communication media in the region.
This was said by the SIGNIS Assistant Secretary General Miss Maria Chiara De Lorenzo on 12th July , 2022 when she was addressing the 20th AMECEA Plenary Assembly in Dar es Salaam Tanzania.
Responding to the AMECEA Plenary theme of Environmental Impact in Integral Huma Development Miss Maria Chiara explained that, recent SIGNIS has supported many communication projects under training, equipment, or production programs, granted by PSPF and screened by SIGNIS.
“In the past few years, we have been insisting on promoting Media for development and peace. In our projects we encourage those tackling environmental issues, such as training on Laudato Si’ or choosing green solutions for the equipment such as solar panels for the power supply to run a radio.
We have several Projects in Liberia we have supported Radio Paraclete and in Tanzania we have supported Radio Hekima with Solar panels to enhance the radio Stations broadcast environment issues, peace, culture and justice,” She said.
Radio Paraclete in Liberia broadcasts a special program on modern and professional agriculture by protecting soil.
Marial Chiara also expressed excitement on the theme that the 20th AMECEA Plenary has chosen.
“I am happy that the AMECEA bishops have gathered here in Tanzania to come out with resolutions on how together can protect our planet,” she said.
And addressing on Peace, Maria Chiara also explained that, listening with the ear of the heart, is what Pope Francis urges us to do in his last message for social communication Day this year.
“As communicators, it is what we are trying to do in these days here at AMECEA: listening with the ear of the heart, and learning from the vibrancy of the church in each of your Countries.”she said.
SIGNIS is the World Catholic association for communication, with member associations and Representatives in more than 100 countries, among these also 6 out of the 9 of AMECEA (and South Sudan is on the way).
