UGANDA: Excitement as Plan to Erect More Parishes Takes Shape in Lira Diocese

Initiative of opening new parishes in Lira Diocese, Uganda, is uniting the Christian community to work together towards achieving the common vision.
The move of erecting new parishes is motivating Christian communities to contribute their resources generously towards successful establishment of the new parishes.
Since 2018, six new parishes have been erected in the Diocese, the development that many Christians are embracing currently.
The new parishes erected are Our Lady Queen of Peace Orum Parish curved out of Aliwang, St Joseph Parish Agweng curved out of Alito both erected in 2018 while Sacred Heart Jesus Parish Otwal, St Mary’s Immaculate Conception Parish Loro, St Peter Clever parish Over and St Luke the Evangelist Parish Aputi respectively were erected in 2021.
The development is observed as a move which is motivating and facilitating the spiritual welfare among the people of God.
Apparently, Christian communities are united in working to generate resources locally towards building sub-parishes to become new parishes.
The sub-parishes to become new parishes are; St Peter Anai, St Leo the Great Boroboro and St Philip Neri Erute all in Lira city.
Other sub-parishes set to become new parishes are St Joseph Abongodyang, St Louis Barr among other potential designated areas being prepared to become new parishes in Lira diocese.
In places earmarked to become new parishes, several meetings and discussions are currently being held and agreeing on the modalities to be used in generating resources towards the establishment of new parishes.
Rt. Rev Sanctus Lino Wanok the Bishop of Lira diocese in his message has been urging Christians to see that new parishes being erected are supported and sustained.
With the increasing population of the people in the region and the need to create access to Sacraments will continue to motivate Christians to contribute generously towards the erection of new parishes in the future.
