Mwenya Mukuka
Catholic Media Services (CMS) Director has urged media personnel working for the Catholic Church in Zambia to continue improving their skills to be relevant in the changing media landscape.
Fr. Winfield Kunda said this when he opened a 2-day Vloging workshop for radio journalists working in Lusaka.
Vloging is the production of short videos especially for social media.
Fr. Kunda said that over the years, media has changed, moving towards convergence.
He said that journalists working for Catholic media should not be left out but should be in tune with the current trends in the broadcasting industry.
In noting the broadcast trends Covid19 brought when Church gatherings were suspended, Fr. Kunda said that there is need to improve the live streaming of spiritual programs on various media sites for the church.
The CMS Director added that the Bishops’ Conference national television, Lumen TV, aims at receiving content from the participants after the training.
The 2-day Vloging training supported by SIGNIS attracted participants from all the 9 Catholic radio stations in the country, and the yet to go on air St. Yusufu radio station in Mpika diocese.
