UGANDA: Be Peace Mediators in Your Localities, says Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda

The Apostolic Nuncio in Uganda His Excellency Luigi Bianco has implored the people in Lango sub region to be the Peace ambassadors in their Communities.
The Most Rev Luigi Bianco made exhortation during his three days pastoral visit to Lira Diocese that started on 19th /May/2022 with the arrival and ended on 22nd/May/2022 respectively with the celebration of the Eucharist at Uganda Martyrs Cathedral Ordinations ground.
On the occasion of his first visit to St Francis Xavier Catholic Parish where priests, Religious and the Christians from the two Deanaries of Aloi and Dokolo joined in the celebration of the Eucharist, the Nuncio noted that it is the obligation of every persons to ensure that there is peace in their localities in a bid to live harmoniously.
Working to generate peace, according to Papal Nuncio, should encompass respect of the fundamental human rights and dignity of every one in every situation, a point he said it calls for active participation of all political, civil and cultural leaders including all responsible stake holders in the communities.
Apart from advocating for peace in the families, the Papal Nuncio further prayed for peace and forgiveness in the development of the people and governance of society so as to create avenues for positive growth and transformation of the people.
He went on to share that to achieve lasting peace, leaders should encourage and motivate people to strive to live in unity by embracing the spirit of dialogue, reconciliation and listening to one another amicably.
During his pastoral visit to Lira Diocese, the Papal Nuncio encountered among the various categories of persons the married couples, cultural leaders, civil and political leaders including priests and the religious and other stake holders.
The pastoral visit of the Papal Nuncio to Lira Diocese guided by the theme, Peace be with You, has been observed by many Christians that it shall remain significant in the lives of people because of the heart to heart message of peace he delivered to the congregations.
At the climax of his visit to Lira Diocese, the Papal Nuncio was grateful to the people in Lira Diocese upon the hospitality, love accorded to him and the generosity of the people exhibited in the forms of the gifts like livestock animals, agricultural and poultry products offered to him by Christians and the people of good will.
