UGANDA: Excitement and Jubilation in Lira Diocese as the Papal Nuncio is received.

The Apostolic Nuncio in Uganda His Excellency Luigi Bianco has been received in Lira Diocese in his three days pastoral visit among the people of God in Lango Sub-region.
The pastoral visit of the Papal Nuncio to Lira Diocese started on Thursday 19th May 2022 with his arrival, and he was received by a team led by the Vicar General of Lira Diocese Monsignor Valente Innocent Opio and other delegations at Nora trading center, a point where the territorial boundaries between Lira Diocese and Gulu Archdiocese are found.
Upon receiving the Papal Nuncio, the team led the Papal Nuncio to St Mary’s Immaculate Conception Loro Catholic Parish where he laid a foundation stone for the Church under construction.
As he made his way to Lira city, the Nuncio was met and received by Christians at various points in anticipation to receiving blessings from him.
After entering Lira city, the Nuncio was led in slow procession headed by the Uganda Police from Kampala road to Juba road joining Obote Avenue to the Police roundabout. From the roundabout, the procession continued and joined the Church road to Uganda Martyrs Cathedral Lira where Archbishop Luigi Bianco was received by the Rt. Rev Sanctus Lino Wanok the Bishop of Lira Diocese.
In the various parishes where the Nuncio will visit, Christians are working and expressing the joy and readiness to receive the blessings from the Papal Nuncio.
Rt. Rev Sanctus Lino Wanok the Bishop of Lira Diocese implored Christians to continue praying for the success of the visit of the Papal Nuncio to Lira diocese.
According to Bishop Wanok, the pastoral visit of the Nuncio to Lira Diocese is guided by the theme “Peace Be with You” as it is relevant and significant during the period of Easter.
According to the organizers, the Nuncio upon his arrival in Lira Diocese on 19th May 2022 shall on Friday 20th May 2022 proceed to Dokolo Catholic parish where he will preside over the Eucharistic celebration for the two Deanaries of Aloi and Dokolo.
On the 21st May 2022, the Papal Nuncio will visit Aduku Catholic parish a point where he is set to celebrate the holy Mass for the Christians from the two deanaries of Apac and Aber.
Meanwhile on the 22nd May 2022, the Papal Nuncio will crown his pastoral visit to Lira Diocese with the Eucharistic celebration at Uganda Martyrs Cathedral Ordinations ground for the Christians in the two Deanaries of Aboke and Ngetta including other invited dignitaries.
Apparently, preparations and arrangements are in high gear among the Christians to receive the Papal Nuncio in their parishes and to ensure his pastoral visit in Lira Diocese comes to successful conclusion.
The pastoral visit of His Excellency Luigi Bianco to Lira Diocese this year is happening after a period of 9 years since the visit of the former Papal Nuncio His Excellency Michael August Blume when he last visited Lira Diocese in 2013.
