The Bishop of Lira Diocese Rt. Rev Sanctus Lino Wanok has observed the need for vocation to Marriage to be understood as the avenue to other forms of vocations.

He said this on the occasion of the launch of the vocation week in Lira Diocese, a move geared towards support, appreciating and creating awareness among the Christians on vocations.

The Bishop went on to say that having good holy family, it is where the vocation to priesthood, Religious life emanate from, the reason why the program is being initiated to build good and peaceful families in the church.

Currently, the Bishop said as a diocese, they are set to enroll programs that shall run to help the young people who would like to get married to understand the meaning of the vocation to married life through awareness, counseling sessions among others.

He further said, the programs will be facilitated by well-trained priests, Religious Sisters and the Laity with vast experience in counseling and helping in the formation of the married couples under the family ministry.

Bishop Sanctus then urged the couples to register in time so as to start the program of formation in Nazareth Family, a diocesan center where the moral teachings of the church on vocation to marriage life and other forms of vocations are going to be dispensed.

According to Bishop, the objective of the program is aimed at helping the young couples to understand the meaning of marriage, how to appreciate the beauty of marriage, and what it takes to be married among others.

Similarly, the prelate noted that the program is just like how the religious and priests are prepared and helped to appreciate being a religious and priest in the Church.

Also, on the occasion of the International Mother’s Day, the Bishop commended the Women for their outstanding contributions in nurturing vocations and holistic growth in the family.

He stressed the need for Christians to double their efforts in supporting vocations to priesthood and religious life in a bid to increase the numbers of the priests, religious Men and Women in the service of the Lord.

Though being in the world faced with many challenges and other distracting factors, the Bishop is optimistic that the programs well set will register success in the implementation among the Christians in the diocese.
