UGANDA: “Priests are not Mere Commune Distributors,” Highlights Bishop Kibira

Priests of Kasese Catholic Diocese, Uganda have been called to foster unity and love among them as well as to be in close relationship with the lay faithful for a strong spiritual foundation and physical development in the Diocese.
Priests all over the diocese of Kasese gathered at their Cathedral for the Chrism Mass where the Bishop consecrated the Chrism, Oil for the sick and Oil for the Catechumens in a Mass that also saw the Priests renewing their promises.
In His Homily while presiding over the Chrism Mass, Bishop Francis Aquirinus said a Priest cannot afford to serve in his own strength without help of Jesus the founder of Priesthood whom everyone needs to meet and connect with. He added that, “priests are not just mere commune distributor but stand to fit in the footstep of Christ.”
The Local Ordinary further encouraged the youth who intend to get married to seek first the guidance of the Holy Spirit for a God fearing marriage partner if they are to lead every soul in family to heaven.
Later after Mass, the Bishop announced the stand of the Diocese of Kasese to wait until May to handover Kilembe Minor Hospital equipments to the Government of Uganda as agreed earlier, wondering why leaders in Kasese are politicizing the issues.
The Prelate called for collaborated efforts towards the construction of a standard St. Mary`s Hospital owned by the Diocese of Kasese to the advantage of the local community. Bishop Kibira announced that plans are being finalized to have the facility turned into a specialized referral hospital despite those fighting against the plans.
He calls for team work and prayers by the Catholic Christians and the Kasese people to have the facility built, as well as all other developments at the Cathedral hill.
The Pastor later called on the local developers in Sauriyako Market and Kasese Municipality to strategically position themselves so as to reap from the proposed medical school and Mt. St. Mary`s hospital, as well as the Centenary bank under expansion among others that will soon shine at the hill.
Bishop Kibira later cleared for prayers the Calvary Prayer Mountain in Golf course in Kasese Municipality headed by Rev. Fr. Anyasio Mbusa with plans to develop it further.
He urged believers in Christ to always prayer for him, priest and laity members for the development of the diocese of Kasese.
The diocesan vocational director Diocese of Kasese, Rev. Fr. Joseph Tumusiime encouraged the youth to join the journey of priesthood and serve in the temple of God.
To Rev. Fr. Clement Masereka, the Nsenyi Parish Curate, today’s mass reminded him of the day he was ordained a priest saying priests have today been renewed and given newly power to administer various sacraments in the church.
One of the Pioneer priest in the diocese of Kasese, Thatha Asasio Kamalha Buhaka asked priests to love their vocation and perform the required obligation with no hesitation.
