ZAMBIA: Catholic Bishops Join Nation in Mourning Former President

The Catholic Bishops of Zambia have joined the rest of the country in mourning Rupiah Banda, Zambia’s 4th President.
The former President Rupiah Bwezani Banda, 85, died at home on Friday,11th March,2022 after a long battle with colon cancer.
Banda, Zambia’s fourth president who was in power from 2008 to 2011, was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and had been receiving medical treatment.
Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) says late Rupiah Banda will be remembered for playing a major role in the peaceful transition of power during the August 12, 2021 General Elections among other national duties.
ZCCB President and Archbishop of Kasama, Most Rev. Ignatius Chama says God allowed the late Former President to do his share of humble, exemplary and generous service to the people of Zambia.
Archbishop Chama has further urged Zambians to remain united as the country mourns one of the fathers of the nation.
He has also urged the family of the late former President and the people of Zambia to remain strong and united as they mourn the loss of one of the founding fathers of the nation.
