The Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) has reiterated committed to safeguarding of the rights of children and the vulnerable adults through their Child Protection Policy launched in 2017 and encourages effective State legal machinery in addressing human rights.

ZCCB Secretary General Fr. Francis Mukosa said this on behalf of the bishops when he closed a 4-day Safeguarding workshop for Diocesan Children Protection officers.

Father Mukosa emphasized the importance of collective commitment in establishing efficient Child Protection structures in the Catholic Dioceses and urged them to work together with the Government to make sure Zambia is safe for children and vulnerable persons.

The workshop attracted 12 participants from the Catholic Dioceses in Zambia.

Meanwhile the ZCCB Child Protection Officer Fidelis Hamweemba has appealed for children participation in the synodal journey.

He said that Dioceses should make sure that children understand the Synodal process for their meaningful participation.
