UGANDA: Bishop Kibira Calls for Love for Enemies, Forgiveness and Reconciliation Among Christians
Peter Masereka
Forgiveness, reconciliation and handing over enemies to the Holy throne is what the Creator wants the Christians to do, the Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale has said.
Presiding over first and second Masses on the Seventh Sunday in the ordinary time at Our Lady of Assumption Kasese cathedral church, Bishop Kibira reminded Christians of their role for mercy and the protection of those they call their enemies since judgment is only in the hands of God.
He asked believers in Christ to assist those in sin to repent than judging them instead of guiding them in the light if Christ.
Bishop Kibira later reminded Christians to be ready for persecution just because they do good, giving the example of Christ who kept resistance in his Mission because he worked beyond the ordinary Carpenter`s son and earthly kings they knew.
Bishop Kibira later warned the Christians against revenge but later cast their burdens and to God.
Also, at St. John Kisanga Roman Catholic Church, Fr. Augustine Sunday Masereka, the director Kasese Guide Radio warned believers in Christ against being driven by pride and selfishness but do everything possible to fulfill the main mission of their creation on earth of saving the soul, asking them to be rich in the spirit by only focusing to achieve things that will save their soul and lead them to life everlasting.
Fr. Augustine who urged Christians to be champions of peace, unity and reconciliation in extending love and pray for their enemies said forgiveness releases them but hate scars the soul and distorts the personality, encouraging believers never to humiliate the enemy but win friendship.
