The bishop of Chipata Diocese Rt. Rev. George Lungu has urged junior seminarians at St Mary’s Minor Seminary to seriously consider joining priesthood.
In his homily when he visited St. Mary’s Junior Seminary recently, Bishop Lungu urged all the boys to consider applying to join the major seminary so that they can serve the church in the future.
Bishop Lungu also reminded the boys to be prayerful, hardworking and disciplined adding that he also expects them to be well behaved and obedient.
He congratulated the teaching staff for the 100 percent pass rate at Grade 12 (i.e. the secondary school leaving certificate exams) in the year 2021.
According to a report aired by Radio Maria Chipata, Bishop Lungu was grateful to the staff for accepting to assist as formators in the school despite many challenges.
Meanwhile Bishop Lungu has asked the seminarians to participate in the synod process of the Diocese and put across recommendations that could help the seminary achieve the intended goal of yielding many vocations to priesthood.
St Mary’s Junior Seminary has 155 seminarians and 11 teaching staff.
