Missio Austria has given the Catholic Diocese of Mpika radio equipment.
The donated consignment of radio equipment received on January, 3rd 2022 is in preparation of setting up a Diocesan radio station.
Making reference to the vision of the Diocese when he received the radio equipment, Mpika Diocese Bishop, Rt. Rev. Edwin Mulandu emphasised that the radio was an important component in realizing the Diocesan vision.
The Church exists to evangelize, reiterated Bishop Mulandu saying radio is an essential platform and springboard to reaching out to many members of the community especially those in the peripheries.
According to a news release issued by Fr. Brian Bwalya the Diocesan Communications Secretary, Bishop Mulandu further disclosed that broadcasting will start as soon as a licence is granted.
“With gratitude to Missio-Austria today we have received in our Diocese the equipment for a new radio station. We now have everything in place. Broadcasting will commence as soon as the licence and frequency are granted by the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) and ZICTA respectively,” Bishop Mulandu said.
The prelate who noted the importance of radio as an effective tool of evangelization, asked for prayers that the broadcast licence may be granted within the shortest time possible.
Named after the Patron of the Diocese St. Joseph the Worker, St. Joseph Catholic Radio will be located right on the grounds of the Cathedral of Mpika.
