It’s now a year since the bishop of Monze Diocese, Rt. Rev. Moses Hamungole succumbed to Coronavirus and the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) has since held a memorial mass for his eternal rest on the 13th of January,2022.
During the homily, the President of ZCCB Most Rev. Ignatius Chama referred to the Biblical text where Paul was urging people to remember their leaders and urged the faithful to remember their fallen leaders and imitate their way of life.
“Our life transformed by the outcome of his life should be the words on the tombstone of Bishop Hamungole, reminding us that we had a leader,” Archbishop Chama said.
He added that Bishop Moses was a person of peace and unity, therefore to remember him, Christians should be united.
Meanwhile the Apostolic Administrator for Monze Diocese Very Rev. Father Francesco Airoldi recalled how Bishop Hamungole influenced the people’s lives through his ministry in Monze Diocese.
Father Airoldi said Bishop Hamungole was a champion of Catholic faith, a leader who served God with total humility and dedication.
“He was a dedicated servant of God who served God and His people of different capabilities and responsibilities within the universal Church and the Bishops’ conference. His love for God and his Church was ever evident,” he said.
And Apostolic Administrator also announced that the Cathedral which Bishop Moses Hamungole initiated has now reached advanced stage and will officially be opened and consecrated on 11th June, 2022.
