UGANDA: Exercise Good Leadership to Serve People at Grassroots, says Bishop of Lira Diocese
Deacon Isaac Ojok
The Bishop of Lira Diocese Rt. Rev Sanctus Lino Wanok has appealed to the district leadership in Lango sub-region to put their focus at the service of the people at the grassroots in a bid to promote economic empowerment.
This was among the key messages of the Bishop of Lira Diocese during his three days pastoral visit to Amolatar and Aputi Catholic Parishes that was concluded with the elevation of St Peter and Paul Odyak Chapel to a Eucharistic center on Sunday 23rd January 2022.
He noted that leaders should guide and live in unity with the people they lead so as to focus on activities that can bring development in their households.
He said, the kind of leadership needed at the moment should be the one geared towards addressing other challenges within the local communities.
In an exclusive interview with Radio WA reporter shortly after concluding his visit in Amolatar and Aputi Parishes, Rt. Rev. Sanctus disclosed that during his visit, he was set to meet Amolatar district local leaders to share and discuss matters concerning integral development of the people.
In his address, the Bishop implored couples to embrace the Sacrament of Matrimony so as to renew their spiritual growth and love among them.
During the visit which started on Thursday last week, the Bishop administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 230 Christians in Aputi Catholic Parish.
Apart from the Sacrament of Confirmation, Bishop Lino further witnessed the celebration of the Sacrament of Matrimony that saw 16 couples newly wedded.
From Aputi, the Bishop then proceeded to Amolatar Catholic Parish where a total of about 348 Christians in the three zones of Namasale, Muntu and Etam Sub parish were confirmed.
Meanwhile apart from the Chapel of St Peter and Paul Odyak, the Bishop during his visit also elevated the Chapel of St Kizito Namasale to Eucharistic center in separate celebrations well attended by the Christians on Saturday 23rd January 2022.
After successful completion of his pastoral visit in the two parishes of Aputi and Amolatar in Amolatar district, the Bishop then returned to his residence in Lira city to plan for other pastoral engagements.
