MALAWI: Catholic University to Award Two Scholarships to Nguludi Community

The Catholic University of Malawi has disclosed that it will support two students from the community around its campus, Nguludi, to study at the University on scholarship as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
This follows an appeal made by the community members from Nguludi through their Ward Councilor Bruno Mwase to support students who are less privileged to access quality education in Malawi.
Responding to the call, the Catholic University of Malawi management through the Vice-Chancellor Rev. Fr. Dr. George Buleya has disclosed that two students from Nguludi Community are to be enrolled in any of the programmes offered by the University in the country.
Commenting on this development, the Ward Councilor has applauded the University for responding positively to their request.
“I am very happy that the Catholic University of Malawi has responded positively to our request. These students are to make a difference in our community once they graduate from the University,” said Mwase.
Mwase added that the community has less privileged students who dream of having a better future through accessing quality education offered by reputable institutions of higher learning like the Catholic University of Malawi.
The Councilor then disclosed that he will ensure that the University is free from security concerns by asking relevant authorities to provide enough Police Officers at the nearby Montfort Police Unit.
The Scholarship is up for grab to students from the community, especially to those that score the highest grade in the 2021 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) and those considered to be underprivileged to pay for their tuition fee.
Last year, the University also supported Nguludi through the purchase of medical equipment donated at Nguludi Mission Hospital.
The Catholic University of Malawi has Thirty-Three accredited programmes including the Bachelor of Laws (Honors) offered by only two institutions of higher education in Malawi; the University of Malawi and the Catholic University of Malawi.
