UGANDA: Bishop of Lira Diocese Implores Priests to Serve with Love and Perseverance

The Bishop of Lira Diocese Rt. Rev Sanctus Lino Wanok has said the vocation to serve as a priest is a sacrifice that a person should embrace with love and perseverance amidst challenges.

The Bishop made the remark in his homily during the Eucharistic celebration held to mark the occasion of his 35th anniversary in priesthood.

He said that a person being called to serve as a priest should be accompanied and nurtured in a spiritual journey and supported by the pillars of formation in a bid to realize a positive result in the Church.

Apart from love and perseverance, the Bishop further pointed out the need virtue of humility as a prerequisite for one to succeed in the priestly ministry.

The Bishop implored the priests to always remain focused and firm amidst challenges and, above all, to trust in God’s providence and care.

In the midst of challenges affecting the Church today, the Bishop asked the priests to remain committed and determined in executing their priestly obligations.

Reflecting upon his priestly journey since his ordination in 1986, Bishop Sanctus acknowledged the contributions of his parents and all those who laid a firm the foundation to his priesthood during his formation.

Bishop Sanctus Lino Wanok was ordained a priest in 1986; and in 2011 was appointed and consecrated as third Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese before being appointed as the Ordinary of Lira Diocese in 2018.
