ACWECA: Congratulated for Initiating Social Entrepreneurship Program

A Franciscan’s brother from California has congratulated the Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA) for initiating very important program of social entrepreneurship as part of their mission.
Brother Keith Warner during his speech to the association stated that social entrepreneurship is very important and it allows African leaders to address their needs using local solutions.
Warner says social entrepreneurship is a new way of fostering human development and it forms organizations that exist to serve the community to create social impact and by so doing that they dedicate themselves to development.
“I observed that the Sisters lacked a business orientation and this is now the way for them in their congregations to move forward. Your collaboration with partners has given witness to Gospel and Gospel values”.
He adds that the Sisters don’t move fast but they move in faith, focusing on studies, growing and working together and they have recognized the important of entrepreneurial leadership in their mission.
“The Sisters have recognized the important of entrepreneurial leadership which is about leadership of organizations that meets the needs and create positive solution and impact.
He said that as they have that vision of the entrepreneurship, it’s good for them to provide training for unemployed young people to become job creators in community.
He has encouraged the Sisters to learn more about social entrepreneurship and find out how they can work together to bring about the vision of new Africa.
“You are now on the driver’s seat. I encourage you Sisters to learn more about it and find how you can work together as Sisters in order to bring about the vision of a new Africa. Pope Francis talks about the economy of Saint Francis of Assisi and I encourage you to think about this vision that Pope Francis has proposed to us,“ he said.
Brother Warner concluded his speech by wishing all the members of ACWECA success as they continue in their ministries.
The 18th Plenary Assembly of the Association of Consecrated Women in Central and Eastern Africa ended successfully today, 27 August 2021, with the action plan which they are going to implement until the next 19th Plenary Assembly.
