The Missio Aachen in Germany has pledged support towards activities of the Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA) as they play their role in evangelization.
In their message during the 18th ACWECA Plenary Assembly, Missio Aachen through its Director for Foreign Department Frank Kraus disclosed commitment to having strong partnership with the Consecrated women in the eastern and central Africa.
“We ask ourselves: How can we better reach out to you as Religious sisters in ACWECA? How can we support you? how can we help to make you more visible and how can we strengthen you as an Association of women Religious? How can our financial aid reach every single Sister in East Africa? How can the local structures be more involved in the decision making and distribution of the funds coming from Missio Aachen?” reads part of the message signed by Kraus.
Kraus further applauds the 18th ACWECA Plenary Assembly as they look forward to have areas where the Missio Aachen will come forth to offer their support.
“We had already the first talks with ACWECA Secretariat about these subjects and we will stay in contact. To make a first step, we have set out a bigger financial fund for 2022 together with the ACWECA Secretariat. This fund should address the problems we mentioned before,” reads the message.
Missio Aachen has since applauded the role of consecrated women in the Catholic Church in spreading the Gospel to the ends of the world despite facing hiccups of abuse, suppression and discrimination in their missionary work.
“That is why Missio Aachen started an initiative against abuse of women Religious in January 2019 after the appeal from Pope Francis,” reads further Kraus’s message.
The 18th ACWECA Plenary Assembly has entered its fourth day as members reflect on “Re-Awaken the Prophetic Role: A Call for Re-formation Towards Holistic Transformation in ACWECA region today (Jn 17: 16-18)”
Members of ACWECA shared successes and challenges experienced for the past years and how they have enjoyed interaction with other Associations of Consecrated Women from other continents around the world.
