The Catholic Church in Malawi has encouraged young people to seek God’s intervention as they discern their future way of life amidst so many noises and influences in the world.

Vocations Sunday helps young people to discern their future vocation  as inspired by God,  whether or not He is calling them to priesthood, Religious life, married or single life in the Church and society.

The call was made during the national launch of preparations for Vocations Sunday for the year 2021.

Speaking during the launch, the Diocesan Administrator of Dedza Diocese Very Rev Fr John Chithonje said young people must through prayer listen to God’s calling and choose a proper vocation for them.

“It is only through prayer that young people will be able to hear where God is calling them to despite the many voices, and be able to choose wisely a way of life they will live for the rest of their lives. I also encourage all married people to realize that marriage is the foundation of all vocations. Therefore, those in marriages should follow the example of the Holy family of Joseph, Mary and Jesus and help their children grow into responsible Christians and citizens of the country,” said Fr Chithonje.

Concurring with Diocesan Administrator, the National PMS director, Rev Fr. Vincent Mwakhwawa asked all Catholics in the country to pray for vocations in the Church, realizing that each life has its own challenges.

“Vocations Sunday is crucial the whole Church focuses on praying for young people to make good decisions about their future. The Church encourages all the Catholic faithful to help youths make right choices through prayer, teaching and monetary contributions, to address gaps that are in the Church and society,” said Fr. Mwakhwawa

He further asked all Catholics and people of good will to generously contribute to the universal solidarity Fund where all offering on Vocation Sunday are sent and are then used to support the training of young people in formation houses in countries where the Church is still needy.

The Church in Malawi will celebrate this year’s World Vocations Sunday on the April 25, 2021 under the theme “A call to Service after the example of St. Joseph”.

And the national Vocation Sunday preparations launch took place at Mtendere Parish, Dedza diocese.
