MALAWI: “Continue Adhering to Covid-19 Measures,” Catholic Women Organization to COVID-19 Parishioners

The Catholic Women Organization (CWO) in Malawi has urged people in the country to continue adhering to Coronavirus precautionary measures to avoid contacting Covid-19 disease and spreading the virus.
The remarks were made by CWO National Chairlady Mrs. Lucy Vokhiwa when CWO donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s) to Mtima Woyera and St Patrick’s parishes in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe.
Mrs. Vokhiwa said the aim was to make sure that people are following the precautionary measures to avoid the spread of the pandemic in the country.
“CWO is implementing theCovid-19 response project to ensure that everyone is protected. At the same time, we want to remind people that even though the number of Covid-19 cases has gone down in the country, it is still important to continue following preventive measures to avoid further spread of the virus’’.
On behalf of St. Patrick’s Parish Rev.Fr Alberto Elifala thanked the CWO national executive committee for choosing their parish to be one of the beneficiaries of the. project.
“It is our hope these PPE’s will help our Christians, more especially those who live in rural areas, to be protected from this deadly pandemic,’’ said Fr. Elifala
Catholic Health Commission representative Mr. Boniface Banda, who is also member of Covid-19 Taskforce Committee in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe encouraged all stakeholders to continue urging their members to adhere to Covid-19 guidelines that government together with the Church put in place.
‘’ The virus still exists and what is needed is that people should continue to follow guidelines of COVID-19,” said Mr. Banda adding, “The decrease in the number of Covid-19 cases does not mean the virus is gone.”
The Catholic Women Organization’s Covid-19 response project is targeting four parishes in the country, namely St. Patrick’s Area 18, and Mtima Woyera in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe; and St Mary’s Chemusa and Lunzu Catholic Parish in the Archdiocese of Blantyre.
The donated items include soap, hand sanitizers, buckets and face masks among others.
