Archbishop of Kasama, Most Rev. Ignatius Chama, has asked Christians and other residents in the archdiocese to register as voters so as to participate in next year’s General elections.

The voter registration exercise is expected to end on 30th November, 2020 as Zambia prepares to have general elections in August, 2020.

Speaking on Wednesday, November 4th, 2020 when he featured on his weekly programme of Ishiwi lyakwa Kacema broadcast on the Archdiocese’s Radio Lutanda, the Archbishop reminded Christians that the right to vote can only be exercised once one registers as a voter and obtains a voters’ registration card.

The Archbishop of Kasama says that it is important that people who have reached the voting age to participate in the elections so that they do not eventually complain that the person elected does not perform to their expectations.

“The right to vote can only be exercised once one registers as a voter and obtains a voters’ card. It is important to take part in general elections for the Zambian people to elect leaders of their choice,” Archbishop Chama said.

Archbishop Chama further advised Christians to be exemplary to others in exercising their right to vote saying by doing so, they will paint a picture of good, loyal and law-abiding citizens.
