MALAWI: Members Living Consecrated Life Asked To Strive For Dignity
Members living Consecrated life in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe have been challenged to mind their dressing and character in public as mission agents in the Catholic Church and communities they live in.
Monsignor Patrick Thawale challenged the members during a service marking the day for Consecrated life and unity of missionaries of the Catholic Church in the archdiocese.
“A consecrated person must be presentable physically and spiritually. You must carry yourself accordingly with dignity.
As pastoral agents, he said, people living consecrated life are like signs and symbols for values of Christian life to many who look up to them to deepen their spirituality.
Besides, as missionaries in the Church, he encouraged them to pray for unity, strive for unity, and work in the spirit of unity to achieve effective evangelization locally and universally.
Chairperson for the laity in the archdiocese who is also national chairperson Dr. John Paul while appreciating the work by the missionary agents appealed for more support from the laity towards promotion of the work by the pastoral agents and their welfare.
“As Catholic lay faithful, we are aware of many challenges which our dear priests, Brothers and Sisters living Consecrated life are facing when carrying out missionary work. Let us collectively work together towards achieving sustainable solutions for survival of the Catholic Church,” observed Dr. John Paul.
He appealed for the spirit of oneness among the Religious and the laity as baptized people sent to fulfil Gods mission on earth.
Dr. John Paul also asked for continued spiritual formation provided to the lay faithful by priests, Religious Men and Women for them to understand the core values of catholic social teachings.
The Catholic Church set 2nd February as the day of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple and celebrates the gift of consecrated life of men and women in various religious congregations and unity of missionaries in the Church the whole world.
