TANZANIA: Tanzania begins preparations for hosting the AMECEA Plenary 2022
Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) has started preparations to host the AMECEA 20th Plenary Assembly which will be held in July 2022.
The preparations have started with first meeting of the management team of Tanzania Episcopal Conference led by the Secretary General of TEC Rev. Fr. Charles Kitima and Bishop Euzebius Nzigilwa Auxiliary Bishop of Dar es Salaam Archdiocese who was appointed by Bishops in Tanzania to coordinate the Preparation Committee.
Presiding over the meeting which was held on 31st January 2020 at TEC, Bishop Euzebius Nzigilwa said that the bishops have appointed him and Bishop Flavian Kassala the co-president of TEC the Ordinary for the Diocese of Geita to coordinate the event.
During the meeting, Bishop Nzigilwa has insisted that a tentative budget be presented to them immediately as well as a fundraising and financial plans for implementation.
“I request you to come up with suggested venue for the meeting, accommodation for the bishops and all the delegates, transport infrastructures, venue for the opening and closing Mass and all liturgical planed activities. In so doing, we need to meet again on February 7, to go through the budget and all that we have planned in this meeting so that we immediately react upon,” he said.
He also said that the TEC President Most Rev. Gervas Nyaisonga will make public announcement for publicity and his office will communicate with all officials concerned about the event.
The 19th AMECEA Plenary which was held in Addis Ababa Ethiopia 2018 resolved that Tanzania hosts the 20th AMECEA Plenary which will take place in 2022.
AMECEA Plenary is held after every four years.
