MALAWI: CHANCO Catholic Students Organization Launches A Self-Reliance Strategy
Catholic Students Organisation of Chancellor College University, CHANCO CSO, has launched a five-year strategic plan towards being a self-reliant Church in Malawi. Among others, the strategic plan is to help Catholic students at the college with the zeal to deepen prayer life and love of Sacraments.
The strategic plan is also to help the students to understand Catholic teachings and help them to be firm in their faith.
During the launch of the Strategic Plan at the College on Sunday, Bishop of the Diocese of Zomba, His Lordship George Desmond Tambala, commended the students for the blueprint that is to guide them for the next five years to be self-reliant.
Right Reverend Tambala challenged the students to fully implement their strategic plan, which he said is in-line with the strategic plan of the Diocese of Zomba.
“I am proud as that you have produced this strategic plan. As a diocese we are to provide the necessary support to the students so that they implement it fully,” said the Bishop.
Bishop Tambala further urged CSO members at CHANCO to take a leading role in a fight against drug and substance abuse among the youth in the country.
Concurring with Bishop Tambala, Former Chief Director in the Ministry of Transport and Public Works Dr. Mary Shaba, who was Guest of Honour at the ceremony, urged the students to bring fruits out of the strategic plan.
She also commended the Bishop of Zomba Diocese for providing guidance to the students towards the launch of the strategic plan.
During the five years, the CSO at CHANCO plans to construct a new Chapel to allow more members of the Catholic Church to attend prayers at the campus.
The CHANCO CSO also plans to produce some ICT materials which will be sold as one way of generating funds for the organization to be financially stable.
