ZAMBIA: Jesus’ Love Moved Missionaries Into Mission, says Bishop Kasonde
The bishop of the Diocese of Solwezi has described the love enshrined in the Sacred Heart of Jesus as key in moving missionaries to go on mission and serve God’s people.
Bishop Kasonde said this in his homily recently during the memorial mass and unveiling of the tombstone of Fr. Dominic Lim Joo Hyun who belonged to the Franciscan Missionary Brothers of Service died suddenly at the age of 58 years on 23rd June 2018 at Solwezi General Hospital.
Captured by the Diocese of Solwezi’s Newsletter, Bishop Kasonde homily pointed out that the love which characterized the heart of Jesus and Catholics revere as the Sacred Heart of Jesus is what enabled missionaries like the late Fr. Dominic to leave their homelands to come to Africa and serve people.
Fr Dominic came as a missionary from South Korea and worked in the area of Chief Mulonga in Kabisapi, about 35 kilometres east of Solwezi.
“The love the late Fr. Dominic showed has resulted in the building of a health centre, agriculture and education infrastructures, which are improving the livelihood of the people,” said Bishop Kasonde as he connected the life of Fr Dominic to the Extraordinary Missionary Month which the Catholic Church is commemorating this Month.
Rt. Rev. Charles Kasonde is also the current chairman of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa (AMECEA).
