ACWECA: Five Nuns From East and Central Africa To Participate In UK International Religious Symposium

Five sisters from East and Central Africa will this month participate in the UK International Religious Symposium on October 24th and 25th 2019, to be held at the University of Notre Dame’s centre in London under the theme, Religious Life for Women in East and Central Africa: A Sustainable Future

The five Sisters have worked as Project Support Assistants in their respective countries: Sr. Margaret Sewe, IBVM from Kenya; Sr. Scholastica Mwale from Malawi; Sr. Christine Kaneema, DM from Uganda; Sr. Deusdedita Lutego, CST from Tanzania; and Sr. Helen Kasaka, LSMI from Zambia.

The nuns arrived yesterday, 17th October, in the United Kingdom and were welcomed by Dr. Catherine Sexton, the Project Director.

Prior to the Symposium, the Sisters are participating in planned visits to two partner institutions in the project – Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology, Cambridge and the Centre for Catholic Studies at the University of Durham.

Topics to be covered shall include: History of Apostolic Religious Life for Women; Apostolate, Prayer and Charism; The Context of Religious Life for Women In The United Kingdom (UK) With Particular Focus On Being Apostolic Till End of Life; The Understanding of Apostolic Vocation In Later Life.

Presenters will include professors from renown institutions such as Centre for Catholic Studies; Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology; St Mary’s University, Twickenham; and Cambridge University.

More than 200 participants are expected to attend the Symposium. These are academicians, priests, religious men and women.
