Archbishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam His Eminence Polycarp Cardinal Pengo said that, the world needs leaders who are peace makers to make the world a better place.

He said this recently during the 75 Jubilee of Charity Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi of Mahenge Diocese, south central Tanzania.

Cardinal Pengo has said that in order to follow the example of Saint Francis who was humble and simple, the Sisters must redeem the world by their prayers for world peace.

“We should do anything within our capacity so that God’s peace reigns among his people. St. Francis preached peace and he lived peace. Now it is up to you Sisters, to pray and work for peace in the world. We should be willing to die in self-sacrifice for the security and peace of our nation and the entire world,” said Cardinal Gap.

The president of Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) Most. Rev. Gervas Nyaisonga also insisted that Sisters ought to pray for peace. While congratulating them for the 75 jubilee, Archbishop Nyaisonga said that the world today needs humble, prudent servants who are lovers of peace.

“If we can only have a few leaders among us who live and preach peace, the world would be friendly to all human kind. We can attain this through prayers and Sisters, this is your obligation,” he said.

Most Rev. Nyaisonga also presented the congratulatory message from the Holy Father Pope Francis to the Charity Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi –Mahenge for the jubilee of 75 years since their inception in 1944.
