CUEA: Catholic University Students Urged To Fight For Justice And Freedom In Footsteps of National Heroes and Heroines
Former Kenyan Chief Justice Dr. Willy Mutunga has urged young people to arise and take charge of affairs in their various nations as many African nations were on the wrong path with their citizens suffering greatly.
Speaking at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) during the conclusion of an exhibition carried out in two days by Power 254 under the theme “Team Courage University Tour” to showcase heroes and heroines in Kenya, Dr. Mutunga said youth should strive to fight against corruption and ethnicity as the future of the nation is dependent on them.
He further urged everyone under the age of fifty years to pay keen attention to matters of their state as at that age one had the energy to engage in nation building activities.
“The definition of a hero depends on what you look at and all of us are heroes in one thing or the other”, he said. He also encouraged the youths to seek justice and freedom just as the fighters for our independence did.
During the question and answer session, he noted that often students do not link what is taught in class and life in the real society as there is a great gap between teaching and practice, further noting that freedom remained a great aspiration for many.
Boniface Mwangi, the Team Courage Founder, also urged the young people to keep their dreams alive without being discouraged.
The exhibition features various heroes and heroines from Kenya since independence and is mean to remind young people of the journey that the Nation has taken and some of the individuals who have watered the tree of freedom through blood and sweat.
