MALAWI: Holy Childhood Animators Called to Renew Missionary Commitment
In the quest of promoting the missionary mandate of the Church in the country, the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) Malawi organized a three days national training for Holy Childhood animators to deepen their faith so that they can ably animate the children.
The training that was taking place at Likuni Girls Secondary School in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe started with a recollection animated by the National PMS Director Rev Fr. Vincent Mwakhwawa, who encouraged the animators to renew their missionary commitment of working and sharing the Catholic faith with children.
“God shares with us his mission because he wants to share with us his glory. This is why Jesus Christ commanded his disciples to go and preach the word to the whole world. Therefore, as children’s animators, you are being sent to go and share with the children the Catholic faith and human values,” said Fr. Mwakhwawa.
The animators also discussed the preparation for the first National Missionary Congress for Children in Malawi which the PMS National and Diocesan offices have scheduled for the 12th to 17th August 2020.
During this Congress, 1500 children from all dioceses in the country are expected to meet in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe and share their talents.
Other things scheduled for the Congress include Catechetical lessons on prayer:; Sacraments; living missionary charity through offerings; lessons on taking care of the earth as highlighted in Pope Francis’ encyclical letter Laudato Si.
The PMS office is appealing to parents to send their children to the Congress and to support them with the necessary resources
The Childhood animators training is being attended by the animators from all Catholic dioceses in the country.
