KENYA: Don Bosco Tech Africa Launches Labour Market Survey Findings
The Continental Report of the Labour Market Survey covering 25 sub-Saharan countries of Africa and Madagascar has been officially launched on Friday. August 2, 2019 at the Don Bosco Tech Africa (DBTA) head office in Nairobi.
Fr. Simon Asira, the DBTA board chairperson and the Provincial of Africa East (AFE) handed the first copy of the report to the Regional Superior of Africa and Madagascar, Fr. Americo Chaquisse, at an occasion witnessed by the francophone Africa (ATE) provincial Fr Alphonse Owoudou, DBTA board members and staff.
Father Simon appreciated the outcome and congratulated the DBTA team for conducting the survey which will not only enhance quality education in all the Don Bosco Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurial Training (TVET) centers in the Region but also promote dissemination of quality information to the public.
Fr. Americo said that as the DBTEC office in Nairobi is meant to facilitate the work of the Salesian.
provincials of Africa and Madagascar and to help them to understand the realities on the ground, the labour market report will help them achieve their objectives.
“Our aim is quality, to prepare the young to be competitive, to be the best,” he said while congratulating DBTA for the good work done,” he said.
The Executive Director of DBTA, Fr. George TJ., has further disclosed that the Survey Report is a product of concerted efforts of the staff of DBTA in Nairobi, collaboration from the different SDB provinces and other stakeholders.
He further stated that the report of the Market Survey will help the Salesian TVET Institutions in the Africa-Madagascar Region to realign their trainings in accordance with the needs of the market for the benefit of the youth entrusted to Salesian education on the continent.
With the report now accessible to the public, Fr. George TJ urged all Don Bosco Centres to take advantage of the findings and share them with all relevant stakeholders in the technical, vocational and entrepreneurial education sector in their respective countries.
The survey was conducted with funding by the German Government through Don Bosco Mondo, Germany. The process was also supported by La Francophonie, Dakar.
