The Catholic Diocese of Tombura –Yambio, South Sudan convened its second annual Children’s conference at St Mary’s Parish, Yambio, Gbudue State, South Sudan. The three-day event saw children in their hundreds in attendance, under the theme “GIRL POWER SOUTH SUDAN AND BOY POWER SOUTH SUDAN”.

The event is the second of its kind, an initiative of Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura- Yambio. The children are members of Queens of Purity fraternity, Noble Boys fraternity and Shalom South Sudan Movement of boys and girls. His Lordship came up with the noble initiative in order to protect the children who in most cases fall victim to unpredictable natural and man-made cases.

While opening the conference, the Bishop called upon the children to set good examples and be models that can be emulated. He added that the fruits of the empowerment program can only be visible if they live what they learnt during the conference. He also called upon parents to take good care of their children as they are the future and hope of tomorrow. The conference is an innovative empowerment conference which brought together children between 15-25 years.
