SUDAN: President of Sudan and South Sudan Bishops Conference Expresses Gratitude for the appointment of Bishop of Malakal
The president of Sudan and South Sudan Bishops Conference Rt. Rev. Edwardo Hiiboro Kussala has expressed immense gratitude to God and to the Holy Father Pope Francis for the appointment of a new Bishop for the Catholic Diocese of Malakal. At the same time, he promised support and collaboration with the Bishop-elect Rev. Fr. Stephen Nyodho Ador as he welcomes him to the conference.
“I am delighted to extend prayerful congratulations to Rev Fr. Stephen Nyodho Ador the Bishop-elect of Malakal diocese. Malakal is geographically the largest diocese in South Sudan,” said Bishop Edwardo who is the local ordinary of Tambura-Yambio Diocese.
He indicated that the Bishop-Elect has many and diverse gifts, coupled with a wide pastoral experience, which makes him a great choice. Besides, the Bishop-elect’s widely recognized commitment to the youth, poor, all ethnic groups and marginalized will be warmly welcomed by the clergy, religious and faithful of Upper Nile and Malakal as whole..
“Reverend Fr. Stephen Nyodho Bishop – Elect of Malakal diocese, you are cordially welcome into the club of spiritual transformation for the people of South Sudan and particularly Upper Nile Region. Rely on our beloved Captain Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour for everything. With that I suggest that you develop your own imagination for the Upper Nile and South Sudan. Imagination is a divine gift. It is a sign of God’s grace. It is given so that we can see the world differently, as it might be. Imagination is a crucial agent for change,” Bishop Edwardo advised the Bishop-elect.
Bishop Hiiboro also expressed special gratitude to Msgr. Roko Taban Mousa, who has served the Diocese of Malakal faithfully and zealously for over nine years as Apostolic Administrator.
“I am personally grateful for your kindness and support over these years in our Bishops’ Conference. Thank you in particular for your ability to lead, your patience and perseverance during upheavals in the region. I am touched by your brotherly encouragement and zeal. You are an honour and gift to the Church.”
He challenged the Catholic faithful especially those from Upper Nile to take the appointment of the new bishop as a God-given chance to forgive each other and build a peaceful nation that is favourable to all.
“We need to journey together, as we make our way through the joys and contemporary challenges and strive to draw always closer to our Lord Jesus Christ.”
