ETHIOPIA: Catholic Church Bids Farewell To Outgoing Apostolic Nuncio

The Catholic Church in Ethiopia on March 29 officially bid farewell to the outgoing Apostolic Nuncio, Most Rev. Luigi Bianco, who has since been appointed Nuncio to Uganda. Archbishop Bianco has served as Apostolic Nuncio to Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia since 2014.

The event took place during the Ethiopian Catholic Secretariat Annual General Assembly during which the overall activity and financial report of 2018 and plan for 2019 was presented to the General Assembly by Rev. Fr. Hagos Hayish, CM, Secretary General.

Ethiopia Nuncio FarewellThe event was also an occasion for the Catholic Bishops Conference of Ethiopia (CBCE) and the Pastoral and Development actors from all the Ecclesiastical Jurisdictions to thank the outgoing Apostolic Nuncio to Ethiopia, Archbishop Luigi, for his support and collaboration with the Churchin Ethiopia and more especially during the event of the AMECEA 19th Plenary Assembly, which was held in Addis Ababa Ethiopia in July 2018 for the first time in the history of the Church in Ethiopia.

On February 4, Pope Francis appointed Archbishop Bianco as new Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, taking over from Most Rev. Michael August Blume SVD, who was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Hungary in July, 2018.
