KENYA: AMECEA Training of Correspondents Includes Nuns

The training of Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa (AMECEA) correspondents which took place from 24th to 28th March at Don Bosco Youth Educational Service in Nairobi, Kenya is enrich the correspondent’s delivery on professionally written articles.
According to Fr. Andrew Kaufa the coordinator for AMECEA Social Communications Department, “Our objective for the workshop was to develop and enhance capacity of our correspondents in the region in regard to writing for online news,” he explained.
Besides, the workshop was also intended to empower the Religious women who are involved in various pastoral and social ministries within the region and whose stories are rarely covered by the mainline media.
“The Religious women are doing a lot of good work in this region,” Fr. Kaufa expressed adding, “yet there is a feeling among them that most of their good work is not captured. Our hope and expectation is that by collaborating with them through the Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA), there will be more stories shared, coming from the Sisters themselves.”
The workshop that was sponsored by SIGNIS brought together correspondents from Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Malawi, Tanzania, South Sudan and Zambia.
