ZAMBIA: Italian Bishops Fund Lumen TV (Z) Studio Construction.
Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) Communications has expressed gratitude to the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI), for the financial assistance of approximately US 295,000 Dollars for the construction of Lumen TV Zambia broadcasting studios.
Expressing the gratitude, the Director of ZCCB Communications Fr. Winfield Kunda has said that Phase One of the project has been completed.
“We are thankful to Italian Episcopal Conference because their financial help is a big boost and will see us reach 85% of the total construction,” he said.
Lumen TV Broadcasting studios is located in Lusaka in the same premises with St. Dominics’ Major Seminary, and will be a single storey building upon completion.
Fr. Winfield Kunda also said that the construction of Lumen TV Zambia Broadcasting studios which be implemented in 3 phases will see the 2nd phase taking off around April, 2019 after the rainy season. He has reiterated that Lumen TV Zambia will be used as a tool for integral human development and evangelization.
“Lumen TV Zambia programming will offer space to the vulnerable to have their voice head. We will also have programmes on human rights, education, health, programmes to develop viewers’ developmental capacity. The objective of Lumen TV Zambia is to have an integrated programming,” he said.
Lumen TV Zambia has not gone on air yet because the national regulatory body has not yet granted the Church a channel on the national signal carrier after the digital migration. However, discussions have reached an advanced stage on the allocation of the channel to Lumen TV Zambia on the national television bouquet.
