KENYA: Kakamega Bishop convenes first ever-Diocesan Synod

The Bishop of Kakamega Rt. Rev. Joseph Obanyi Sagwe has convened the first diocesan Synod to reflect on the mission, identity and strategy which will inform the future direction of the Diocese.

The Synod whose them is, “Our Diocese, Our faith, Our Responsibility,” was launched on 2nd, February, 2019 during the feast of the Presentation of Our Lord and the Day of the Consecrated.

Speaking during the Holy Mass at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Bishop Obanyi said, “This Synod is going to be the most representative organ of the Diocesan consultation. It is a solemn occasion for the local Church of Kakamega to come together to reflect on where the Diocese has come from, where it is and where it wants to be.”

The Bishop called upon all the people of God within the Diocese to participate in different ways, suggesting and proposing how they wish the local Church to live its mission.

The Synod, which is expected to end in June 2019, is a forum of consultation of the Christians on how the Diocese will continue to fulfil the mission of Christ in the current context.
