CUEA: Catholic University of Eastern Africa Enters Partnership with Huawei

Prof. Stephen Mbugua exchanges MoU documents with the Huawei team led by Su Shuqi

The Catholic University of Eastern Africa has entered into a partnership with Huawei Technologies to offer technical and certification training to its students through the Huawei authorized training curriculum and tools.

Speaking at the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony, the Vice Chancellor Very Rev. Prof. Stephen Mbugua welcomed the partnership and expressed his hopes that it would help enrich the training of Computer Science students.

Su Shuqi, Manager In-charge of Training and Certification at Huawei, noted that the training would greatly help bridge the gap between academia and industry.

The Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr. Kimathi indicated that “… this is an important milestone as CUEA seeks to diversify what the University is offerings to our students, especially in Computer Science”.

CUEA was chosen for this partnership due to its strength; in being located in a serene environment; its excellent facilities and related resources.

With this MoU, the University is now certified and authorized by Huawei to deliver official technical and certification training to its students using the Huawei authorized training curriculum and tools. This will go a long way in CUEA and Huawei building ICT Talent in Kenya and Africa at large.

Some of the lecturers of the University (Computer Science department) are already trained to offer the curricula to students. A number of students have also been trained and are already brand ambassadors for the program.

In September 2018, the University achieved the status of a Huawei Authorized Information and Network Academy (HAINA).
