Parish communicators after the training at Nsenyi catholic parish

Social Communications Department of the Catholic Diocese of Kasese has conducted a successful training for parish communicators at Nsenyi Catholic Parish. The four-days training that took place between 14th and 18th November at Nsenyi Catholic Parish benefitted 25 individuals.

According to Fr. Augustine Sunday Masereka, the Kasese Diocese Communications Coordinator, participants were drawn from twelve parishes and one shrine within the Diocese.

“Each parish selected two people for training in communication. They were recommended by the Parish priests,” Fr. Masereka explained, adding that majority of the trainees were young people who have exhibited interest in supporting the communications apostolate in the parishes.

“The trained individuals are now the official Parish Communicators, under the Diocesan Communication office. Primarily, they are agents of the Diocesan Radio, Kasese Guide 100.5 FM as well as the Diocesan Newsletter, Omusondolya (The Guide). Secondly, they are promoters of communication in the Diocese. Their role is to gather news stories for the Newsletter and Radio respectively; they are now officially part of the Communication Department of Kasese Dioceses.”

Fr. Masereka indicated that the training was made possible through financial support from Propaganda Fides through SIGNIS for which he expressed gratitude.
