ETHIOPIA: Ethiopia to host ICYCW International Chaplaincy Training

The Ethiopian Catholic Church’s Young Catholic Workers (YCW) Movement is to host the International Chaplaincy Training for Regional Chaplains and Adult Companions in Addis Ababa at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference Centre from 12th to 17th November, 2018 under the theme “A path to Leadership for young people”; and it is organized with the collaboration of the International Coordination of Young Christian workers (ICYCW).

According to Mr. Berhanu Sinamo President of ICYCW, it is the first time that such a training will be taking place in Africa. He explains that it is a formation program for chaplains and adult companions for the development of responsibility and leadership among and by young people in 8 targeted regions around the world.

Mr. Berhanu says that during the training, participants will share testimonies and challenges faced in the course of accompanying young people. Furthermore, he said, efforts will be made support National Chaplains understand the YCW method which help in effective accompaniment of the young people.

Participants that are expected to attend the training are coming from 8 regions, namely Eastern Africa, Western Africa, Central Africa, Indian Ocean Islands, Asia, Middle East, Europe and South America and Caribbean Islands.
